Daniel P. McCoy Receives Unanimous Endorsement for Albany County Executive

Albany County - On Weds, May 20th the Albany County Democratic Committee unanimously endorsed Daniel P. McCoy as their candidate for another four years as Albany County Executive.

“I am honored to receive the unanimous endorsement of my party,” said McCoy. “I ran for County Executive in 2011 to make a positive difference for the people of Albany County and though we have a lot of work still to do, we have made huge strides in creating a stronger, more financially secure and safer place to live, work, do business and raise a family. I am so proud to have the backing of the Democratic Party and I look forward to continuing to move our County forward.”

During the last three years in office, McCoy has fought for the residents of Albany County. When McCoy first took office the County’s financial picture was bleak, including a significant structural deficit; a workforce that had not seen a cost of living adjustment in years; County programs and services that had been drastically reduced and taxes that had been dramatically increased to close significant budget gaps.

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy quickly began putting into place innovative reforms throughout County operations. For three years in a row he presented structurally balanced budgets and he did so while staying within the State’s tax cap. And in 2015 he presented a budget that provided no property tax increase, sending out a message to residents and businesses alike, Albany County is about good management, not higher taxes.

McCoy has also fought for the residents of Albany County by spear-heading such initiatives and partnerships as Solider Onfor our veterans, working with New York State on theDelivery System Reform Incentive Program (DSRIP) for our seniors, passing legislation aimed at keeping our children and our residents safe and issuing a moratorium on the expansion of the processing of crude oil at the Port of Albany.

Dan was born, raised and resides in the capital city of Albany where he has worked as a public servant his entire professional career. He was a firefighter and EMT for the Albany County Airport and the City of Albany. Along with being Albany County Executive, McCoy is also a member of the New York National Guard, where he has earned the rank of Sergeant 1st class.

Prior to his election, Daniel P. McCoy was Albany County Legislator for twelve years, representing the 10th District which contains parts of Albany and Bethlehem. As a County Legislator, Dan was unanimously elected by his peers to be the Chairman and served in this capacity for 2 years. He also served for three years as Chairman of the Albany County Democratic Committee.

Dan and his wife Alyssa live in Albany with their three children Egan, Tyghe & Taryn. For more information about Daniel P. McCoy, visit his website at:http://www.danielpmccoy.com/.
